About PDO Threads

A lift without the surgery — and results that get better over time.

PDO Threads (short for Polydioxanone) are a revolutionary non-surgical treatment that lifts, tightens, and rejuvenates the skin — no scalpel required. Using thin, dissolvable threads inserted beneath the surface of the skin, this treatment provides an immediate lifting effect while also stimulating long-term collagen production.

Whether you’re looking to define your jawline, lift sagging cheeks, smooth neck lines, or refresh tired eyes, PDO threads offer a versatile and effective solution with minimal downtime.

The threads gradually dissolve over several months, leaving behind firmer, smoother skin that looks naturally youthful — not overdone.

Results are subtle, beautiful, and tailored to you.

PDO MAX® Threads FAQ

What is a PDO Thread Lift?

The PDO (polydioxanone) thread lift is an FDA cleared, nonsurgical treatment for sagging skin. This minimally invasive procedure can give a lift and to the jowls, jawline, eyebrows, eyes, and neck for a natural and youthful appearance. The PDO threads are made of suture material. The sutures are placed into the hypodermis of the skin to physically lift and smooth. As the sutures dissolve, it creates an inflammatory process in the treatment area and this in turn encourages new collagen and elastin production, resulting in smoother skin with reduced wrinkles.

This effect typically lasts for 12–18 months, as newly stimulated collagen continues to refine and rejuvenate the skin over time.

What areas can be treated?

The thread lift can be used to enhance and improve the appearance of a sagging neck, cheeks and jowls and droopy eyebrows. We can personalize your treatment to suit your exact needs to ensure you are happy with the results.

Who is this procedure suitable for?

A thread lift is suited to men and women between the ages of 35 and 80. The procedure is most effective on skin that has minimal sagging and offers the best results for cheeks, jowls, brows and the neck area. If you are looking for results that are more effective and longer lasting than Botox and fillers, a thread lift is the ideal choice. If you are put off by traditional surgery or don’t want general anesthetic, then a thread lift is great as it is minimally invasive. The biggest advantage of having a thread lift rather than a facelift is the greatly reduced recovery time associated with thread lifts. Recovery from a thread lift is comparatively easy. Thread lifts can be performed under local rather than general anesthesia, meaning that thread lift patients can drive themselves to and from the procedure.

What are the advantages of a thread lift?

Because thread lifts are much easier to perform than facelift surgery, they are much more affordable. Advantageous though thread lifts are, it’s important for patients to maintain realistic expectations for this procedure. While thread lifts certainly produce visible changes, they will generally only lift the face by a few millimeters; as such, they create a more subtle and natural looking end result than facelift surgery. Thread lifts are therefore best suited to patients who are dealing with mild to moderate, rather than severe, signs of skin laxity. Results last for a year or more and it is much safer than fillers.

How does it work?

A PDO thread lift is a procedure that is often referred to as the ‘lunch hour lift’. This is down to its simplicity and the time it takes to carry out the procedure.

After placing a local anesthetic, a small needle entry will be made and then fine threads are advanced along pre-marked contours. The threads are made from polydioxanone (PDO) – the same material used for medical stitches – which dissolve naturally in the body over time. Once the threads are in place, your body starts to produce new bundles of collagen around each thread and this in turn creates a subtle yet effective lift. The results differ for each person, but are very natural, giving a rejuvenated and refreshed look. There is are no scarring and recovery times are a lot less than those associated with traditional surgery.

Are there any risks?

Thread lifts are low risk, thanks to how noninvasive they are. There is virtually no risk of scarring, severe bruising, bleeding or other complications after having a thread lift. In rare cases, patients may experience irritation, infection or their sutures becoming visible under their skin. If this occurs, however, the sutures can simply be removed and the patient’s face will return to its prior state.
